Cherie, I will make a point of being grateful for my coffee tomorrow morning as well. There's no reason not to. And yes, being able to laugh at oneself is a very powerful skill.
Don, I hear you. I don't bend down to pick up poop but I've come to realize how taken for granted simply bending at the knee becomes...until you can't do it very well, if at all. My right knee has been slightly swollen for months now, and not being able to deep squat is frustrating. Speaking of, here's a #WorkoutWednesday video I posted yesterday that has helped my knee range of motion quite a bit: https://substack.com/@pvonz/note/c-147224049
I agree with you. Happiness is a protean, highly subjective concept not just from one person to another but within one individual from one day (or week) to the next. I know I poked fun at Dan Gilbert and his book for making happiness a thing two decades ago, but I don't think it's an sustainably attainable goal. But calm contentment, like you say, is.
I'm grateful your mom wasn't hurt too. I'm also grateful for coffee as well. Before I drink my first cup of coffee I try to remember to thank God for all the people, from one end of the world to the other, just to make that first cup of coffee each morning such a great one.
Love her laughter! I had a similar spill this past week where I ended up somersaulting over one of my clients and landing on a pile of blankets. Long story, but we all had a good laugh about it. Glad Mom is okay—seems like her bones are as strong as her laugh. 😹
Marcella, thank you. Glad you are okay, too! Mom is strong. She'll probably kick my ass for posting the video, but it's for a good cause (the video, I mean.)
Lucinda, I appreciate you sharing that. I've always liked the idea that people live for as long as those who remember them. I think of my grandfathers, who each died in the 1990s, in that way.
So glad your mom is ok! I’m grateful for my alone time with my adult teenage daughter. We went to a rock climbing gym recently and after climbing up several feet I lost my grip and spun around and flipped back onto the soft floor so suddenly a burst of laughter escaped me and took my daughter by surprise, me too! I told her the best way out of an embarrassing situation is to laugh at yourself... another thing to be grateful for…laughter! Lol 😂
Grateful for good coffee every morning which always reminds me….It’s the simple things that make a difference.
Great video. Glad everything turned out OK. It’s good that your mom can laugh at herself.

After knee surgery, I’m grateful to be able to bend far enough down to pick up dog poop. Now my neighbors can love me again!

Happiness is like the drug addict seeking a high. I look for contentment, serenity, calmness, peace.

Unrestrained spontaneous laughter is the best.
Mike, I couldn't agree more. I need to do more of it, myself.

Dave, that is a really nice gratitude thought. Thank you for sharing it.
Glad she’s ok! Gratitude keeps me going for sure. 🌹
Lorraine, thank you. Grandma's good to go.

Last February, after my mother's passing, I am more grateful that I had her in my life and the wonderful memories I have of her.

OMG. I'm glad Grandma is okay! Hilarious and kinda scary. Old people don't bounce.
au contraire, Emily. I'd say my mom bounces purdy damn good. You should see her dunk.
Looks like she rolled with it to me.
I'm just glad I got it on camera.
