Strength that’s built, not bought.
I’m Paul von Zielbauer, a Pulitzer-nominated former New York Times investigative journalist, Mayo Clinic-trained health & wellness coach and lifelong athlete. I’ve been strength training for 47 years, built a lot of muscle & paid the orthopedic price for some of it. Here’s one thing I’ve learned in my nearly 60 years: Aging requires building strength in many forms.
I created AGING with STRENGTH to bring deeply reported, actionable, and often very personal insight to all of those forms:
Physical strength—muscle, cardio, balance, flexibility
Cognitive strength—brain health, memory, sleep
Nutritional strength—mostly unprocessed food, eaten like it’s 1899
Emotional strength—resilience, self-forgiveness, self-knowledge
Spiritual strength—purpose, meaning, managing what stresses you
Social strength—mattering, and the relationships that sustain you
What you’re really subscribing to is an investigative reporter’s skeptical, curious, occasionally confrontational exploration of aging—plus a well-calibrated bullshit detector, which comes in handy given what the longevity industry is selling.
